At MVSA Temecula Vein Clinic, we are advocates of patient education. Below are some of the most common questions our Temecula vascular surgeons receive regarding vein removal therapy. Feel free to review these questions and call us to schedule a consultation for additional information.
Am I a Candidate for Vein Therapy?
Thanks to innovations in modern vascular therapy, almost anyone can be a candidate for varicose vein therapy. However, the type of treatment you undergo depends on several factors, including
- Vein size
- Number of veins being treated
- Location of targeted veins
During your one-on-one consultation with our Temecula vein surgeons, we’ll conduct an in-depth evaluation of the veins, your medical history, and long-term goals in order to determine which vein removal therapy will best suit your needs. At Murrieta Valley Surgical Associates, we offer a number of different vein therapies, including Cutera® laser treatment, endovascular laser treatment, sclerotherapy, and other tradition vein removal options.
How many sessions does Vein Removal Therapy take?
The number of sessions patients may need depends on the size and location of their spider and/or varicose veins. While individuals with smaller spider veins closer to the surface of the skin may be able to complete all treatment within a matter of two visits, patients with larger, deeper varicose veins may need to multiple sessions to achieve smooth skin.
What is the recovery process after vein therapy and how long does it take?
Regardless of the type of vein treatment you choose, recovery is fairly standard. After treatment, our Temecula vascular surgeons will provide you with a compression hosiery, to be worn for about two weeks following treatment. While vein therapy patients can immediately return to their normal routine, we strongly recommend avoiding excessive physical exertion in the days following treatment. Rather, our surgeons recommend going for walks twice a day to help prevent blood clots from developing.
Can I develop spider or varicose veins even after vein removal treatment?
While rare, some patients can develop additional varicose or spider veins even after extensive vein therapy. Protect your investment by closely following your surgeon’s post-treatment recommendations for self-care. If you do notice a new set of veins developing within the months following treatment, we urge you to visit our surgeons as soon as possible to discuss treatment options.
